Fantasy Pups
This Saturday, August 4th, is the Visitation Day for Marshmellow's puppies. A number of families have not reserved a time or else your email request got routed to spam, so if you do not see your name in the schedule, then make sure you email me your request.
The puppies are very active now that their eyes are open and they have transitioned to solid food. The dams still nurse, but more to relieve udder pressure than attachment to the puppies, so all puppy care now falls to us. We hired live-in help last week so that we could keep up with the puppies and be ready for the first visit. Puppies are now being fed four times a day and messing their Ugodog Trays twice as often! With 11 puppies, it is quite the full time job keeping up with them. I will be sending everyone an updated Puppy Purchase Agreement. Nothing has changed on it except that the payment information has been updated. For those who have sent in payments, that will be recorded. For those who have not had their Visitation Day, it will just to a reminder to you of what is coming next. Looking forward to meeting the rest of you! P.S. Expect another puppy video tomorrow!

My photographer/videographer is going out of town for a week, so we will have a hiatus in the images. to resume July 29th or 30th. As this will be the last image in a while, make sure you watch the video below. Marshmellow's puppy are just starting to notice each other and begin to play. Take a look at these early signs. Phantasia's puppies are starting to play. It comes in short bursts, and moves like a wave from one to two to three, and then the first tires out but a fourth joins in. Then the second gets bored but a fifth joins in. Finally the last puppy gets involved and by this time my son has a camera and he is catching the action. This particular wave started with orange, yellow, and purple collar, moved to tan, and by the time the video camera was ready, it was ending with azure and purple. You can see one of Marshmellow's puppies watching from the left side. If you listen in the background, you can here Calliope and Phoebe barking, and Marshmellow's puppies whining. Everyone was getting stirred up by the puppies action except the two moms, Marshmellow and Phantasia, who were taking the opportunity to go outside and enjoy the weather! Today was the first feeding day for Masrhmellow's puppies and the fourth day for Phantasia's. My son took a video of each "breakfast flock". Unfortunately, he confused the names of the puppies so just keep your eye on the collars to find your own. We are hoping to catch video of them playing together soon. Phantasia's pups just recently started playing, but Marshmellow's not yet. Play is brief for now, but as they age, it will become more frequent and lasts longer, it will be easier to get it recorded. Many breeders assign names to the puppies so that the families can identify them in communications. Three of our dogs were originally "Pumpkin", "Snowball", and "Babe", and these names appear on their original veterinarian papers. This works when the puppies look much different from one another because of difference in color or patterns.
Many other breeders will name their puppies using some marker. For example, one breeder calls her dogs "Blue polish", "Red polish", etc. based on the color of the nail polish she puts between their shoulder blades. Our first dam had such an identification. My first litter was identified using a single mark painted on the paw pads, and so we had puppies named "Right front" and "back left" and "both front" etc. This works well when the puppies are hard to distinguish by their features. This time I used collar collars so that the smell of paint would not impinge itself on their olfactory world. But the fact is, naming a puppy "White collar" just seems wrong. Some color names work -- I knew a beautiful Weimaraner named "Blue", and the name worked since his coat had a blue steel sheen, and I knew black Lab named "Blackie" -- but others not-so-much. So.... this is an invitation to send in your puppy names. These are provisional. It gives you a chance to try out a name if your family is not quiet sure. We can use the name in communication and to mark photos, and if it doesn't feel right on visitation or pick-up day, by then you will know and have something permanent. Please make sure you visit the Visitation Day Schedule and pick your time slot! (Check the blog post below for details on that!) Funny story from my son: "When we bought our last dog we could not decide on a name. This frustrated my Mom who wanted to be able to talk to the dog, so she called the puppy by the name the breeder had selected - 'Babe'. I did not like the name, and was afraid it would stick, so I decided to name the dog 'Ivanka', knowing my Mom and sister would not let that one stick. That bought me more time before I sent in the AKC registration papers -- two weeks in fact -- to try out other names. The tiny white pup curled up in my lap reminded my of the white Apollo space capsule, so finally I settled to register her as Phoebe Apollonia, the feminine form of Phoebus Apollo, the Greek and Roman Sun-deity, patron of music, truth, prophecy, and poetry, whose name in Greek means bright, shining, or radiant, a fair name for a white dog." Now that the puppies are being assigned their forever homes, it's time to come meet your little one in person! Please check out our Puppy Visitation Day and Puppy Pick-up Day schedules and reserve you and your families place in our appointment list. Choose only from the available time slots. RSVP and reservations can be sent by email to FantasyPups. Priority will be given to those living more than two hours away (according to Google Maps). Other timeslots will be filled in the order that they are reserved. More than one time slot may be requested by those who have more flexibility.
Individual puppy photos are up! Click here.
